Anna Von Mertens: Tang Teaching Museum

Elizabeth Leach Gallery is pleased to announce that Anna Von Mertens' hand-stitched cotton artwork The Day Without Yesterday, June 18, 1925, Mount Wilson Observatory, California was purchased by The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY for their permanent collection. This work is from Von Mertens' 2008 series Look to the Heavens, which considers historical moments when science, religion and astronomy intersect and depicts astronomical events where what is viewed in the heavens reflects on our culture below. New Hampshire-based artist Anna Von Mertens is represented in Portland by Elizabeth Leach Gallery.
