Sara Siestreem (Hanis Coos) | Artist Talk at Sun Valley Museum of Art

Sara Siestreem (Hanis Coos) recently spoke about her work and practice at the Sun Valley Museum of Art (SVMoA).

Siestreem, along with Los-Angeles-based artist Tanya Aguiñiga, are currently showing at the Sun Valley Museum of Art for Intertwined: Weaving in Community—an exhibition that considers the ways in which artists have used traditional weaving as social practice and a platform for activism.

In addition to her artwork that is part of SVMoA’s exhibition Intertwined, Siestreem held an artist talk discussing the self-sustaining weaving program she has created for the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians, and the program’s work to repair communities and heal the relationship between humans and the environment.
