LIBBY WADSWORTH - Iterations

January 5 - 28, 2017

In iterations, Libby Wadsworth examines the repetitions that fill our lives. We build on aspects of ourselves by enacting the same things over and over again. Whether paint applied to a canvas or clothes applied to a body, each action builds and defines a self. Wadsworth endeavors to record these small yet meaningful moments by continuing to explore the use of text in her work. In this exhibition, Wadsworth will include a series of charcoal drawings along with paintings on canvas. Oscillating between readable letter forms and abstract objects the text in these drawings and paintings alter slightly with each iteration.

Wadswoth lives and works in Eugene, OR. In 1984 she received a BA in English Literature from Williams College (Williamstown, MA) and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (Chicago, IL). She continued her studies at the Royal College of Art in London (London, England) and the University of Chicago (Chicago, IL), from which she received her MFA in 1990. She has exhibited widely in the Northwest and the Midwest.
