Opening Reception: April 4, 6 - 8 pm

In Angkor, Christopher Rauschenberg’s series of pictures in the lush jungle landscape of Cambodia, the artist finds beauty in both the majestic and the mundane details. The images are expansive and invite the viewer to visually wander around inside the picture plane to explore the light, textures and shapes of massive stones and overgrown, twisting vines. Rauschenberg’s curious eye and generous compositions draw us in to encourage our own sense of wonderment and discovery.

Based in Portland, Oregon, Rauschenberg received his BA from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. His work has been exhibited at the Griffin Museum of Photography (Winchester, MA), the Chicago Cultural Center (Chicago, IL), the International Center of Photography (New York, NY), and the George Eastman House (Rochester, NY), among many other major institutions. An exceptionally active leader in the Northwest arts community, Rauschenberg co-founded Nine Gallery and the photography nonprofit Blue Sky Gallery (both Portland, OR).
